About This Program

In the 1940s, archaeologists discovered ancient scrolls in the Judean desert that revolutionized our understanding of Second Temple Judaism and the history of the Bible. They also changed our understanding of the historical Jesus and the origins of Christianity. Dr. Tucker Ferda, a New Testament scholar at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, discusses the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and what scholars are continuing to learn about the earliest Jesus movement in the context of the first century CE.
